Since January 1st 2026, the EU ETS regulation covers 100% of CO2 emissions (compared to 70% in 2025). The use of renewable fuels is also being stepped up in order to reduce their environmental impact. The costs associated with complying with this legislation (+€6/TEU dry in 2026) are included in our ETS. since 01/04/2026, the ETS Surcharge amounts, revisable each month, are as follow :

The ETS is calculated monthly using the market value of carbon (average of the month m-2), if this difference is greater than $4.

Since January 1, 2020, the Very Low Sulphur Surcharge (VLSS) applicable to all types of shipments (containers, pallets, roro, breakbulk) covers the increase in fuel costs used for international shipping (VLSFO) in accordance with IMO 2020 regulation.

Since May 1st 2025, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has designated the Mediterranean Sea as an  Emission Control Area (ECA).

As from 01/05/2026, the amounts of the VLSS, revisable each month, will be as follow:

The VLSS is calculated monthly using the price difference between VLSFO ANT/MGO ANT/VLSFO GIB/MGO GIB (weighted average of the month m-2) and HSFO of October 2019 (average of the last 6 months), if this difference is greater than $25.
